Kulekhani – is the largest man made lake in Nepal, spread over more than 7.5KM in length. It is also called Indra Sarobar. The primary purpose of this lake is to collect and reserve water from many nearby streams, hence it is also called Kulekhani reservoir. The water collected in this lake is used to produce hydro-electricity.
Apart from hydro power, the lake is now one of the major tourist hob attracting thousands of domestic as well as foreign tourists every week. Boating in Kulekhani / Markhu and Fishing in Markhu are the major attractions here. You might not want to miss boating when you’re here.
